JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Estimator will be asked to maintain professional working relationships with current and prospective clients to ensure inclusion in all desirable bidding opportunities. Provide professional working relationships with general contractors and vendors to ensure availability and favorable pricing
- Manage and effectively handle all aspects of the bid process from organization and clarification of bid documents (Plans, Schedules, Specifications, and Requests for Proposal) to preparation of a written proposal. Validate estimates to prepare a working budget for the project based on value engineering, actual quantities and estimated production rates specific to the project.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of the scope of work, project timing, budgetary constraints and jobsite conditions
- Attend all necessary job walks and pre-bid meetings.
- Communicate with customers regarding specifications and expectations.
- Create accurate and timely take-offs.
- Solicit estimates from subcontractors for work that is not self-performed.
- Review job information to verify estimate accuracy and ensure that profitability estimate is within corporate guidelines.
- Prepare accurate project pricing breakdown.
- Ensures that the client has a thorough understanding of all aspects of the proposal.
- Ensures that all bids prepared provide adequate profit potential in accordance with targeted margin goals.
- Effectively manage the bid process to provide a timely review and confirmation of estimating assumptions with others.
- Provide a written proposal consistent with NGi standards.
- Be prepared to provide an effective verbal presentation of the proposal. Know the job, and know how to build it.
- Upon contract award, facilitate and manage the turnover meeting to Project Management.
DESIRED CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE
5+ years comparable project management or estimating experience. Experience in Quick Bid Estimating and OST Blue Beam, Microsoft Excel and Word.
SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and employees. Knowledge of construction materials, means and methods. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specs. Understands critical path, logic, sequencing, and activity identification in simple schedules. The senior estimator is required to have technical competence and advanced knowledge of construction operations to effectively plan, organize, coordinate, problem solve and make appropriate decisions related to the project specific responsibilities. Perform as a liaison between NGi’s executive management and customers.
